Shopify locations are places where you stock inventory, fulfill orders, and sell products for your Shopify store.

Amazon regions are geographic marketplaces where you sell your products.

For each Amazon marketplace that you connect to in the Shipr app, you need to map a Shopify location.

Mapping Amazon regions with Shopify locations is needed for the following reasons:

1. FBA

Fulfillments of Shopify orders need to have a linked location. When the Shipr app ships the Shopify orders via FBA, the mapped Shopify location will be automatically linked to the fulfillment. Thus the location that you map in the Shipr app will be assigned as the default location for all the products while fulfilling orders via FBA. You can create dummy locations in Shopify to map with Amazon.

2. Inventory Syncing

Shipr app provides the option to sync inventory between Amazon FBA and Shopify. If inventory sync is activated then the app will update the inventory on the mapped Shopify locations.

Example:

  • Consider you sell on Amazon FBA US and UK.
  • You can create 2 dummy locations in Shopify, say Amz US and Amz UK.
  • Connect your Amazon FBA accounts with the Shipr app.
  • Link Amazon FBA US with Amz US Shopify location.
  • Link Amazon FBA UK with Amz UK Shopify location.
  • If an order is placed by a customer in the US, then it will be shipped via Amazon US FBA. The Shopify order will have Amz US as the linked location.
  • If inventory sync is activated, then the Shipr app will sync inventory on Amazon FBA US with Amz US location and Amazon FBA UK with Amz UK.

Note:

You will need to deactivate Shopify's inbuilt 'Fulfillment by Amazon' Service. If it is not deactivated, then there might be cases of duplicate fulfillments and incorrect inventory syncs.

Also, do not map Amazon regions with the Shopify location 'Amazon Marketplace Web'. This will prevent the Shipr app from fulfilling via FBA and syncing inventory.
